i ALWAYS use red, use different amounts for different fish but always red, they make different colours because fish can see some better and it makes a change for the fish, variation. but one single red on the hook works for me if im using a size 12-20 hook, anything bigger and i tend to put about 3 on. hope this helps

Reds work well for perch, and whites are good all-rounders. To be honest mate just get mixed because that way you can try all the colours and see what works on the day

Strange when you think about it,red is the first colour of the colour spectrum to fade in water but not go altogether though just change to grey in the fishes eyes but i once used the fluro coloured maggots that you get called discos and i could not stop catching Rudd and Roach all day on them but when i tried the dark coloured ones my catch rate fell a lot so if you can get your hands on the fluro maggots them use those if after siver fish even Perch find them to there likeing

Yes they are good but at this time of year it might be better to go down to the small pinkies that are more at home on the canals because the fish are not feeding like they where in the warmer weather and you have to lighten up on gear now so i would try these small maggots that are often a orange/red colour
