Ask at you local tackle shop for info...some have there own clubs and might be looking for members thats the only thing to do unless someone on this forum can point you in the right direction

joining a clubs a great idea mate, at 16 your probably be able to get away with a junior membership. many clubs run junior matchs but at 16 they would probably let you fish the adult ones.
my advice on joining a club would be, go for one with a range of waters. my club has 3 estate lakes, yet they are all different. i can choose between big carp (knocking 30lb) and a lake with non at all, where the tench average size is 5lb also the club has another lake which i haven't visited, 2 canal stretchs and loads of rivers stretchs (different rivers too).
fishing a range of waters will mean you wont get bored of fishing the same old carp puddle every week and your skills as an angler will greatly improve.
theres only one way to get as good as the likes of matt hayes and mick brown and thats to put the hours in. im lucky in that i live on the river severn so i get to fish that 3/4 evenings a week, and spend the rest of my time on the lakes. you can read every single book every written but spending an hour on the banks worth 10 reading books

Get involved with matches mate and there might be a scout or something, or like others said, ask in the tackle shop and see what they can do

Put your Education first so in the week matches will be out of you time zone, many matches are held at weekends with sundays being the main day.
Practise at venues are rare because of the venues you might fish the only way you can learn is by fishing some of them in the match and keep a record of the methods, weather, bait ect plus it is almost certain that someone at the club will know the venue and give you some advice.
Travel is always a big problem if you dont drive, you would have to be relient on your parents or friends or members for lifts but if you offer them a little towards the petrol money i think it could be done with little problems.

thanks alot.. i still dont have a clue how to get into one or not or where the nearest club to me would be?... do you have any ideas as i live in the north east of england, hartlepool...and i dont know where i wppuld have to travel to meet up with the members of the club or even how going into a club helps me out? ... does it make me a better fisherman or does it get me involved in more matches? i dont have a clue to be honest ... ive been fishing for 11 year and im now 15 but ive never been interested in going into a club or anything.... could you tell me the full script of joining one and what happens once involved any help would be hugely appreciated

your local tackle shop should be able to tell you of any local clubs.

yes ill go to find out if theres any local clubs but is any fisherman welcome ?....do they take age experience stuff like that into account or doesnt it matter?... plus i want to know what sort of things it helps you achieve? is it just to make u improve or not ...and do u get entered into matches regularly.. so basically the question im asking is what is the point in going to a club?
