It is important to keep the feed going in in the summer, start with a pole cup,put a few balls of bait in to it,add groundbait if allowed and drop it in to your swim then fish over the top of the baited area...plum the depth to find bottom and start there but keep feeding the swim, pellets and caster, maggots what ever is your choice....to start with you have to build up your swim and that takes time and plenty of bait but once the fish home in you should feed little but often, lets say a good pinch of bait every 20 seconds and continue to do this through out your session you will be surprised how much feed fish can get through in a short space of time.....take a look around at what some of the other guys are using as bait that should tell you what to use if they are catching but if there not then use something else

thanks again .. i normally put 2 cups in before i start fishing... i alwayss put 1 cup of groundbait in and 1 cup of watever hook bait im using but do u think i would need to cup more in as i think if i dont more than this with little feed going in aswell then the fish would get full straight away ? andd is it also true that if your catching lots of silvers or anything small .and it goes dead for awhile it meens a few big fish have moved into your swim?

when the big fish come in the swim they feed very competitively and bully the small fish out. i'd say if you've stopped having bites after silvers, sadly the fish may have moved on. in the summer definately little but often, and maybe a good tennis ball size of groundbait after every 3 fish. can i ask , whats your groundbait mix ?

I think you have it about right with the feed just keep the feed going in little but often....normaly you will find the bigger fish will push the smaller fish out of the swim wile they feed so yes the swim will go quiet for a wile but the stamp of fish will be better.....summer feeding is a little diferrent to winter in the winter it is easy to over feed but summer you can get away with a lot more....for instance in one fish-o-mania round this year some one got through 21 pints of maggots and still did not win....so you see you can put more in than you think in summer get the fish feeding well thats what your aim is and the only way to do that is feed up

sammy boy .... i normaly use pellet as a hookbait whilst on the pole .. as i tend to use either halibut mix where halibuts are already mixed into the groundbait or if not then ill gte a basic few bags of brown crumb and just add pellets and normally abitt of hemp to give them a variety.. are these good mixes to use with a pellet hookbait?
