alright, there is 14oz in a 1pound, so its haft a pound but this is the MAX weight you could put on the rod.

Re: 2 1/2 tc for piking

I use a2.5 t.c carp rod for pike fishing and have cast baits up to three quarters off a pound with it.
The t.c is taken when the rod bends to 90 degrees so therefore you could theoretically cast that weight but to no great distance.
I can easily cast a three quarter pound deadbait to 40 yards with my rod.
Hope this helps.

Re: 2 1/2 tc for piking

i have a 2.5 t.c rod which i use for pike and on very few occasions carp. this rod for pike will handle a 2oz bomb with a large mackerel tail on it and still cast some distance if you put some effort into it. in general it will cast most whole fish that are in the freezer packs i.e. sardinrs, eel, lamprey, herrings. also it works well with smallish livebaits.
tight lines....
