Ask For Rod Licences?
I am somewhat amazed at how often our Rod licences are checked or should i say NOT checked.
In more than 30 years of fishing i have only ever had my rod licence checked once and that was by the local bailiff not EA so what i think needs to be done is the Fisheries/venue owners ask for your rod licence BEFORE you pay your day ticket or peg money, would this be a better idea than the one we have now i wonder after all the only people that can complain really are the ones that DON'T have a licence anyway and they should not fish with out one simple. I think it is time that venue owners started to take more interest in the rules and law of fishing rather than just plain money in the bank after all they go up in arms over poaching(and right they are) but they are more than willing to allow anglers fish WITHOUT a licence which in my books is just the same thing( law breaking) because they are not bothered about checking for them,do you think this is a way forward or a step backwards ![]()

good point, but to be fair its upto the angler and not the fishery to make sure your licence it upto date etc. if your stupid enough to fish without one you deserve all that you get. like you are telling me that some of the argos anglers have 2 and 3 licences? to cover upto 6 rods? and i have see some anglers who dont have a clue about fishing with 6 rods on commercials for god sake?

I agree warrior but surely it is about time that some kind of action was taken to deter these offenders because has it is there are no deterrents at all and as you have stated and rightly so many of these people that have three or more rods on the go have only one licence so again this needs to be taken into account i would say.
The owners are quick in taking our money but not so quick in making sure that the people that are fishing their venues are legally entitled to be there in the first place.

Unfortunately I've heard there's quite a number of people who don't have licences simply because of that very good point you've made.
One guy I knew who didn't have a licence said that if he was ever approached he'd push them in the water! He's not a friend of mine. |

Well PUDRICK people like the one you mentioned are just a waste of space and needs reporting as soon as possible next time he goes fishing without his licence.
It really is getting past the joke if people start to think along those lines instead of paying £26 for a rod licence,i have even heard it said that the rod licence is bad value for it's money, what a joke,i mean where else can you get dawn to dusk enjoyment for just 50p a week over the year, some would moan if it was just 26p for the rod licence.
