how do you mend broken rods
I have an old float rod from a few years back that got the top 2' snapped off by the one that got away! i'm now looking at it and thinking it is a shame because it was an alright rod and it is always handy to have a spare or even just another rod to boost my catch! Would anybody know how to fix a rod securely and fairly flexibly? thanks in advance.

Re: how do you mend broken rods
file it down, whatever you're left with. take to the tackle shop and buy a new end eye to fit the diameter of your "new" end. No need to put a new carbon section on as you have only lost an inch or so. Either whip your new eye on or superglue it.
I did this with the rod I use, and it works perfectly. the superglue is still as strong as ever! |

Re: how do you mend broken rods
If the break is lower down then get an old similar rod from a car boot.
Use the car boot rod to provide an inner and an outer for the break (or just a substitue section). Fibreglass the inner in place then see if the outer is needed. |
