Hi i have dun a lot of bream fishing over the last 4 years and had the same prob as u when i started. There r some simple things to do that could help first start fishing with a long hook lengh and as the day goes on keep taking some off bit by bit start aroud 18 inc and come down 2 inc a time till the bites become more prolific this should boost your catch. As for bait worn and caster keep away from maggot as this will bring in smaller fish about the only maggot i use is 1 or 2 on the hook with a worn try rolling them up and down in your fingers so thay go long and thin 3 on a hook away u go i have had some good catches on this. Copped worn is a grate way to bring the bream in to the swim over a nice fruity ground bait try adding some sugar hope this has been some help let me no how u get on tight lines
