True shame
 I am so unhappy with what has been going on at my local river.Polish men have been coming down every night cathcing and killing the pike and taking them home it is an outrage that they can get away with it i called the environment agency who gave me the number for the local bailiff who said he would come down and sort it out but has yet to turn up. Is it legal to kill pike?

Simple Answers
IF you have a licence and the required permit AND the water licencee or ownersays you can the answer is yes BUT without any of these and the answer is no

Again, you people are lucky. You ask is "it leagal to kill pike?" in Sweden they ask "Are you one of those fools who release the fish they catch?" and such. Even when fishing for small roach or bleak people think that I'm gonna eat them. There was a big catch and release trend on many Swidish forums but now the catch and kill and catch and cook have grown (O'm ok with catch and cook but catch and kill is when you leave the pikes hanging from trees "so that they can't eat the "precious" rainbow trout that has been put into the lake") They have an anual competition where the goal was catch as meany pikes as posible from a certain lake one weekend(usaly the ppl putting the trout into the lakes asked them for this) and leave the pikes to rot in the woods. Now they have found out that they can make money selling the pikes to local restaurants. So none of the fish goes to waste. They also have a "pike shot" put pike in a blender, add water, drink and get ure own "I drank pike" T-shirt. And they call "us" "pikehuggers".
