White bread groundbait recipe help

Hi folks, I want to start making my own groundbait to save some money using common household foods using mostly bread, but may also include sweetcorn, pellets etc (i've even heard tuna flakes!!). Are there any tips on preperation, getting the consistency, flavouring etc? Be grateful for a reply. Thanks, this is my 1st post so apologise if there is a thread on this subject already.

No problems everyone has to start somewhere

Using bread AS A BASE for groundbait mixes is easy and you can do it at home IF you can get a large supply of cheap bread or breadcrumb

Method for the dry mix
1/blitz the bread into fine crumbs
2/dry the fine crumb in a low oven slowly so you don't burnt it
3/blitz it again
4/sieve the crumb to remove large particles
5/ optional redo 1-4 on the residue left
6/ store the dry powder in an airtight bucket until needed

BTW do brown and white separate as they have differing properties when wet
The white becomes a heavier mix than the brown which makes cloud style ground-baits easier by only using brown crumb
use white in your method mixes it stays together longer in the water

Additives
everyone and their auntie has a fav additive try a variety on the different waters you get to fish regularly you'll find out what works best on each water

proprietary mixes
these are what you add to your crumb for specialist ground-baits they should be treated like additives

FOR EXAMPLE
one one river I fish Cosmic Cloud added to brown crumb attracted Grayling for around 6 years -- it doesn't now

so be prepared to ring the changes when something stops working

i get the cheapest bread i can get blitz it up to make crumb. put it in a dry container. put sweet corn in the blender make a slurry and add it to the bread mix to make a paste. put on a baking tray put the oven on as low as possible then leave to dry out break it up and blend again. ive used hemp to with good results

now that's an idea for a sweet base groundbait and a hemp one

You can also flavour your mix, by putting half a dozen 6mm or 8mm pellets in with it before you blitz it. Then freeze it, which helps to draw the flavour through the whole mix. Just remember that the mix will take longer to dry out when placed into the oven!

Go to your local 99 p shop and buy
1.a packet of fishmeal groundbait
2.a packet of maize meal
3.a packet of strawberry bait pellets

instructions
fistly blend/grind your pellets,
then mix with maize meal and groundbait in a DRY bucket. Add pellets and mix again.

After youve made the mix put it in a celebration tin [ you know like the one aunt ethel sends EVERY xmas ] this keeps it dry and stops bugs getting into it.i would also take the bait in a freezer bag to your swim.
