Tench and crusian

I have just started fishing a new lake. First time i didnt get anything. I did see small fish's though so the next time i fished for those with the hope of them drawing in some big fish following the activity near my hookbait. I used JVS breem groundbait with some 6mm hallibutpellets and the hookbait was a 1,5cm peice of a worm. THe depth was 1.5m and i used a bottom down float (almost a waggler) with a 10.5fot rod (i havent gotten my 17ft matchrod yet so im using my UL spinning rod for now). After some small fish's I changed to a whole worm 5-7cm and threw it out as far as i could (after i was out of ground bait and the small fish's hadleft the spot i fished before) This resulted in a small Ruffe. how would you guys fish for tench and crucian in a big water with a 1.5m deapth. (I've been told that there are 3m deep sections, but i didn't find any) The best spot in the lake is like a cresent moon along the edge of the lake that seals in a half circle (with a radius of about 70m )of water. I'm chore that it's the best spot no matter what I'm fishing for but i can't get to it.

So do you guys have any tips? baits etc.

sounds like you are on the right track.......worm as hook bait is good but i would go for a 3mm pellets & use the same ground bait
have you tried feeder fishing to get the bait quick to the bottom & the feed all in the same spot this sometimes helps to move the smaller fish away
sometimes it is just a waiting game.......hoping for a lucky day
tench love worm & sweetcorn
crucians love red maggot here in the south what line are you using
sorry i cant be much help

I would like to add a question about the crusian. Does it have anything in common with the rudd? do you fish for them in the same fashion? Cause I have two books about fishing that if i look up crusian in the index and go to that page I find rudd. Also in the middle of one of those artikles he author starts writing crusian instead of rudd in the text.

(I'm not chore about this, but it might be cause the Swedish word for crusian carp is "ruda", and I myself thought that rudd was crusian carp until I saw matt heyes fishing for crusian carp and I had to look up what that beutiful fish was.)

yes the crucian cartp is in the family CYPRINIDAE which includes the family of common carp, rudd, minnow etc
they rarely exceed 3.3lb & are very close to the goldfish a bit like a wild goldfish

i fish for crucian on pole & waggler & caught them many times with bread red maggot & worm i try to keep the hook about size 18 & other than that they are great fun to catch
i hope this helps

It does. I used to think that worm, bread and maggots were used in lack of other bait when fishing tench or crusian. But I've heard around a bit and they seem good. I used to think that corn was the number one bait and the 3 mentioned b4 were mainly used for chub, bream, roach and stuff like that

By the way, what is the difference between sweetcorn and maize/regular corn. Here in Sweden we just call it corn. (and also fodder corn wich i think is dried)

all i know is that sweetcorn is a strain of maize corn which is high in sugar & it is a recessive mutation of maize/regular corn
regular corn is picked when it is mature while sweetcorn is picked immature to ripen & allow the sugar to turn to starch....sweetcorn is same as regular but slighty more sugary
& i love sugar mmmmmmmmmmmmmm lol

if you dont catch any fish dont worry you can always have a sweetcorn sandwich ( which i have had quiet a few times now )

lol, I have friends who eat shrimp when they are fishing rainbow trout with them. I cant bring myself to eat bait. It doesn't matter if it's bread or corn or something else.

However today a swan swam by. It ate 7 slices of bread. I didn't think it would fit more then 4 in it's stomach. Half an hour later it came back for more but I didn't give it more. Somehow the fish werent intimidated by it. The moment it left they came back into the spot I'd been spodding.
