A little bit of advice needed

As it is winter, and sometimes there are some frozen mornings.
Occasionally some of the rings on my rod freeze over and if i'm float fishing really affect the casting quality, is there anything i can do to prevent the rings freezing over?

Yup there is Glycerin a very very thin smear around all the rod rings will stop them freezing

You can get it at the supermarket in home baking where it's used to make Icing
Or
You can go to the chemist and get ripped off for a tiny bottle but it's best dispensed using an eye dropper
Which is how I carry it and Washing up liquid for sinking line and
my lubricant for the pole elastic
