i fished a local lake on saturday for 3 hours with a pole
all the water had ice on apart from about 20 inches from the bank so i tried the pole & caught four fish in 3 hours on red maggot
i really wanted to fish with the feeder but i thought i had better not

did anyone else have tough times at weekend

Oh yes, as i posted on another thread. Tried the canal which was covered mostly in ice. Tried finding shade parts where the surface was warmer. Not one bite all day.

I did though manage to get a photograph of a mink running around on the ice, that was pretty cool.

I went sunday with 2 friends the ice was over 15mm thick in places. We used a lawn rake on a rope to clear a decent sized area in the ice before we started fishing. Had plenty of line bites and a few short runs on several of the rods, nothing much happened to speak of only a few minor fish on the bank.
