wierd pike incident.

other day i had my pole against reed gettin a few roach and perch here and there, i was lucky to be using size 12 elastic and a carp rig instead of what i was going to use size 4 elastic and a 2lb line roach rig because i managed to get a 9lb pike out without trying but if i went for the day deadbait and spinning i would have caught NOTHING! my float went under and back up quickly and then few seconds later, the float still above water was moving to the right slowly but kept going and i fought its not moving on its own i struck and first instict was tench until it fliped and turned out of the water, i was pretty amazed but still its only a 9lb but i was still a little chufed. i mean 9lb pike with maggot with a size 18 hook and 4lb just not right. anyone had any similer expieriences?

i think the pike was very hungry or lazy ( i bet it dropped in front of its nose ) & wham bam.
the only funny thing i ever saw was a man & son fishing for pike...he told his son to sit near him but to not get in his way...the father decided to live bait then dead bait then spin .....he tried everything without a bite .....the son after about 7 hours fishing came over to me & asked how i was getting on ...i said i was only fishing for carp & little uns on my other rod
he then proceede in dipping the end of his rod into the swim (looking very bored) when all oif a sudden he started shouting .......after about 5 mins he pulled in a 19lb pike.....his dad was furious & took him home....i and many others praised him up but as they say you cant choose your family

i always remember the kids face when he saw what he had caught he was so proud & i think he should of been

long story sorry...but worth a mention

i think shame on the dad, if i was fishing with my son and i'd blanked and he'd caught i'd be thrilled to bits, getting annoyed because the son got a grat fish and he couldnt catch anything, very shallow of him.
