Best bait for winter roach anyone?

Cheers Darren, i'm going to aim for a huge bag of Roach and Perch next week. Btw, do tench feed well in the winter?

Had a session on the pole last wed and had 35lb of Roach on red maggot, just feeding two to five maggots every fish caught, worked really well nothing massive about 8oz biggest but good sport.......gong next week gonna take a little hemp and some casters just to mix it up a little...

as a learner i practiced today with sweetcorn and at a same time ground fed another area with red maggot, changed to red and cast in the new area.
i no sooner cast and fed 5 or so maggot in the swim i got bite after bite.
the majority was roach, but managed perch. i had 3 friends using there poles and it was fun watching and learning what they do.
i even tolerated getting used to barbless hooks lost one or three at the last minute. i need to get my strike sorted as i'm not too good i'll learn.
They may be all small fish but suits me to learn and gain experience.

Punched bread, maggot or caster thats what i'd take anyway ! fished for roach since i was a boy of 15

i always use red maggot for roach & rudd & if it gets really hard i get some pinkies
