What to take...
I am interested to know whether anglers find they can leave some gear behind when going fishing, maybe to make it easier to travel with, by being lighter. Maybe I should rephrase this as what would you consider your essential items, obviously rods and tackle are a given.
For example in the summer would you consider leaving out the umbrella from the rod holdall or would you keep it in for shade, or is the large heavy chair really necessary in all situations would a simple collapsible camping chair not suffice? Any of your views would be great, cheers. |

all i do lately is i put all my gear including ....reels, hooks floats etc into a large size toolbox,,which i then proceed to sit on while i fish it just makes it easier for me
so my gear consists of say a weekend day fishing trip toolbox to sit on rod net & sometimes a ruck sack for ground bait carrying |

My Gear consists of
Rods, reels, tackle, bait etc... I like to wear a fishing waistcoat so i dont have to carry everything, so ideally i like to take 2 rods max 3 reels max waistcoat with all my bits and bobs in stringy bag with lunch and a waterproof Bait Bag Landing Net Chair |

i'm always very undecided and have to think about it a few days in advance. for a typical day at my local water i'd take; 2 rods, 2 reels, all my floats, few feeders, landing net. Then i have to make some desicions; Seat box or small tackle box with better chair, Big brolly or waterproofs,Tea or coffe, and Bacon or sausage sarnies. any one have the same problems?

i used to go loaded, i've managed to slim my load down now so its alot easier to get about, umbrella in the summer isnt a bad idea as it can act as a sun shade, i burnt my arms big time couple of summers ago, wont be making that mistake again.

i take everything, that included 3 poles, 2 rods, 3 reels, seat box, big carryall with bait etc in, and its all loaded on my carp barrow and pushed to my peg. sometimes if the other halfs fishing its 2 rod bags and 2 seatboxes. all fits on one carp barrow. the best 40 quid i have ever spent

I take my Bike - for riding up and down the river
My Rucksack with attaced Chair (£11.99 from argos) 1 Telescopic rod - easy to pack in the bag 1 Reel mixed bits, hooks, baits etc 1 landing net. i am a minimalist fisherman, i like to be able to move between places to fish and i live close to a river and a canal so i can fish them as i please. |

i take everything,
then if you set a feeder up and dont get bits ur screwed, wheras if youve got a pole in your bag, you might catch something, id advise taking everything, then youre ready for anything that happens |
