4lb line should be ok mate, how big are the chub? a few good winter baits bread crust, breadflake. Cheese paste and luncheon meat paste, These are usually used in coloured water. maggots, worm and slugs. float or ledger should do the trick. hope this helps.

If you're using slugs look for the ones with the orange frill around them they seem to work best

good fun fishing for chub in ponds and lakes, some have escaped from the river trent into the gravelpits soo, i sometimes go for them, mostly waggler and maggots and sometimes worms, perch normally get their first though

theres quite a few chub in my local commercial (aswell as barbel, which isnt right) i think that the best way to catch 'em is on the waggler with luncheon meat, then again, i can never break the 2lb mark.
