dropback advice please

Hi all, i'm new to carp fishing and need a little advice on dropbacks plz. This weekend whilst fishing i had what i believe to be a dropback where my indicater droped to the floor and the alarm buzzed until indicater reached the floor. i got to rod but alarm had stopped ,should i have striked or left rod in place and re set indicator . I was not sure so i re set indiacator and didn't bother to strike

You should of striked mate, the fish picked up the bait and swam towards you so it dropped back.

Always worth striking mate. the alarm possible stopped due to the line being slack as its swimming towards you.

With Bite Alarms ANY movement of the line needs a reaction

Yes it could have been a fish disturbing the bait with it's tail BUT equally the fish could be swimming towards you whilst checking out your offering

So the answer is ALWAYS strike better to have a chance than to miss it

dropbacks

alright mate,what you probobly had was a dropback,so if you dont have an alarm that registers dropbacks and it happens again pick your rod up slowly and reel in the slack line then when youve done that keep your rod tip nice and high if it is a dropback you should be connected to a fish,hope this helps mate,tight lines,rivercarper1.
