Of to dudmaston tomorow, after Tench or Carp. Either sleeper rod's for big carp, or feeder for tench. Gonna try some boilies soaked in csl fished over hemp, corn, blitz corn, tuna, and pellet if i go for big carp, or fruity groundbait and corn if i opt for feeder

So your a member of the Kinverfreeliners then....you must know Deano that fishies there a lot at Dudmaston....i know of it but not a member but i have heard it is more a Tench pool then Carp but i could be wrong.....it sounds to me a good sweetcorn venue or chopped worm and caster in the feeder with worm hook bait spot on for both Tench/Carp

Well the big pool has no carp what so ever which is good imo. The other two have got some decent carp in though. I've really gotten in to tench though this year so the fact i know 99% of the fish in the main pool are tench is brilliant

Tench are a great fish to target.....love catching them but my pb is not much more than 5lb but if i get the chance to fish Dudmaston i would always target the Tench

Theres some big eels and pike too, as well as decent perch and roach. The other two lakes have alot of tiny tench and big carp in. I usualy stick to the main one. Memberships alot for KFAC, £95 !! I only joined because i could just about get away with a junior membership for £20 (18 and in full time education)

A spod rod is a heavy rod that can handle the weight of a spod that can weigh over a pound in weight when fully loaded up so a normal carp rod even with a 2.75 tc would not take the casting at any great length....that's why there are spod rods and carp rods....they are for that very purpose, spodding out lots of feed in bulk.

One thing to remember when using a spod you must use a target float , you dont have to but the whole purpose of using a spod is to get your feed out in bulk and in a tight area, this means you need not just three or four rods but five(depending on how many you use to fish with),one marker rod with float, one spod rod with spod and the others are your hook/bait rods.

Get your marker in the area you want to fish then with a heavy lead on your spod rod line(not your spod)cast at your target float, the aim is to get your lead to land near the float,it might take several goes but you will get there in the end...when happy set your line clip on your reel,in other words put your line in the line clip this will give you the correct distance every time, aim your rod at the marker float and cast out you will find you will need a bit of strength to get the distance because of the weight of the loaded spod but once it is flying out there it will hit the target area with no problems, leave your marker float out dont reel in untill you are leaving other wise you will not be able to find the range again....thats the way you use a spod rod and the reason why it is vital to use the right gear for the right job,it is not cheap but if you want the best chances then that is what to do....tight lines

Smile Spod Rods

Many thanks for the helpful explanation. I'll now need to buy a couple more rods, but now I know what to look for. Trouble is, I now need to justify the purchase with the wife!!
