A 2.5lb is perfect for short to medium range specimen carp. You will have no problems landing huge carp on it. However you will need an alarm as it wont bend it will just get pulled in

I use 2.5lb test curves andd have had no problems. Next time i may get a pair of 3s so i can use them for long range pike / carp / beach fishing.

Oh i deleted the other thread as it was the same as this one

I would keep the 2.5's and get some 3's too (I'm greedy) If anything I'd find a Spod rod first

Smile 2.5lb is a good size

A 2.5lb is good for short to medium range carp fishing. You will have no problems landing big carp on it.

I think you would be surprised though at how little power some carp rods have compared to feeder rods
