Personally i use method feeders with pop up sweetcorn on a hair rig. I've caught a lot of reasonable sized carp on lots of different occasions.

hiiii

right well i have 1 tip that i have gathered, when using boilies or pellet try to change the shape use a knife make it a hexagon or something, the carp have been noticing(smart arses) the shapes its like they see a sphere its automatic warning sort of thing to them. Also can anyone help me on types of reel i want a reel that you can flick a switch and the fish can run then flick it again and you can start playing the fish not keep turning the knob from left to right, rear drag front drag whats it calledCheers

You want a freespool or bait runner reel. I would recomend the Epix Pro Baitfeeder in a 40 or 50 size for specimen carp. Costs £50-60 but well worth it. If thats too much then there are plenty of budget freespool reels out there

hi luke best advice i can give you is get on the bank and learn from there practice makes it easier as for bait any decent bait will be ok depends on size of your target fish but 14mm boillies is a good all round size and try not to use to heavy test curve rods as you really want to get a bend in your rod
