Thats aiming at specimin carp really, Its his first carp, i doubt he would like it to be 20 plus

The easiest way to catch a common capr would be heading down to your local commercial and fishing maggot, Most commericals chuck up a miz bag on maggot!

I agree, and maybe try some small pellet around 4mm, me an ma mate has loads of crucians and roach (over 1lb) all on pellet. paste might bring out the bigger ones. just keep feeding small micro pellet over the top

Spot On,
If you want to bag a speicmen for your first fish my advice would be to book sessions with a professional who can teach you all the basic things you will need!

young angler,
Dont be in to much of a hurry to get onto big carp, first learn the basics, like all the older guys. get used to catching the smaller fish, take your time, use small hooks and small baits for smaller fish big hooks and big baits. for the big ones, if i am float fishing for carp I fish over depth by a few inches, about 5 or 6. you soon know if they are interested. you dont say bait wise if you have tried lunchion meat or peperami,, they always get me out of trouble, but make sure there are fish there in your swim or you wont catch. I didn't catch my first and only 20 until i was well into my 40's. That was over 3 years ago, but a lot of fun tring to get there over the years, so enjoy your fishing and it will come.

mick
