bait
one way of trying to pick out the better fish is to put on bigger baits although this doesnt always work. For example if you are fishing one 10mm boilie try using two or use just one 15 or 20mm boilie. This is a method which has always helped me to catch the better fish. Hope it helps.

if u mean 6lb + this is a fun way
i always use a cage/swim feeder filled with fish meal green and strawberry groundbait with maggots or sweet cor on a size 10 hook i caught a lovely new pb carp in a area of the stillwater that is only a foot deep

Two rods should mean twice the chance, try setting both rods up differently, when I use two rods I try to use one as a traditional carp rod on a bite alarm, on this rod I would normally try a big bait with a big hook, as a good friend and excellent fisherman from the Czech Republic told me when I laughed at his own homemade boilies that were the size of golf balls. Big fish have big mouths and small fish have small mouths sounds obvious but so many fishermen try for the monsters with tiny baits, smaller carp as well as big ones can eat small bait, a big fish can only take big bait.
Try small particles on the other rod this should result in the smaller fish keeping you busy and interested while the big bait sits there waiting for that monster from the deep Good Luck ![]()

There are never any guarantees when fishing but you can up the odds by making the right choice when setting up. If we always caught what we wanted how we wanted if would be called catching not fishing and I love fishing Tight Lines

Hi, well ive all ways fished with 2 rods out and both rods are set up the same with a hair rig and in line bomb. But the bait is different on both rods.
I use size 10 or 8 hook with a 15mm boilie that way the small fish can’t suck up the bait easy so the bigger fish will be able to take it a lot easer that’s from my experience of fishing. So if you want to fish big and small fish just change the size of the hook, have one say a size 14 and the other size 10 or 8 that way you won’t just be catching the small fish all day. |
