Talking Fishing on top

When i fish on the sruface i make sure its pretty warm and not much wind because it will blow the bait on top to the edge of the pond/lake. Wat i use is pedigree dog mixers. i soak them in water untill they are soft enough to put the hook through. i do not have a float or anything else on the line just a hook. Hope it helps

Hi Fellow Fishermen,

When fishing on the surface on a heavily fished water you will probably have very little luck as this is probably the hardest type of carping there is, the carp can see the line going to the hook-bait as well as seeing the hook itself.
There is no easy way around this but patience and time, in the end one will take.

A few days ago i was fishing a commercial fishery in Cheshire that will not allow surface fishing, as it was quiet and as i know the owner he let me try floating a crust, the fish went mad for it, i landed two both over 10LB
but i missed loads and i mean loads, they were competing that hard for the crust that they kept knocking the hook out of the crust.
so on a fishery were the fish are not fished for on the surface is the bets option

Cheers for the link, I normally use the line to tie the bread on the hook rather than hook the bread itself so as to leave the hook free to hook a fish, the problem on my friends lake is he has a really good head of fish not just carp but loads of silvers, the silvers tend to attack the bread while the carp are still looking for it.
