There are four main ways of fishing with Bread, these being the punch, flake, paste or crust.

A bread punch is a small tool that has different sized little cups on the end that punch out small pellets for hook baits. Bread punch can be used to devastating effect and was a great favourite with match anglers in days gone by, and still is a winner today.

Bread paste is bread with the crusts removed and a small amount of water added then kneeded until it becomes a doughy ball. You can addthings too it as attractants such as vanilla powder from the tackle store - a cheaper alternative is custard powder.

Bread flake is a small flake of bread that is nipped on to the hook to present a very natural and slow sinking bait. It can be a killer on some slow or over-fished waters as an alternative bait.

Bread crust is a floating bait used to great effect on warm summer evenings. Just break a chunk off and mount it on the hook and fling it out. A word of warning - fish like Bread Crust but so do Ducks. NEVER leave your tackle unattended and always watch out for our feathered friends. It is sickening to see the damage that some mindless idiots can inflict on our wildlife.
