Hook size depends on bait size and what you are after

Sometimes the biggest of fish will take maggot on a small hook then other times you have to scale up to silly sizes I have even used 2/0 hooks successfully but for REALLY big Carp tend to go to 4's or 2's as a max but for 6-12 lb's then I use 10-6 hook sizes

dont go mad with rods and reels just yet, make sure you have a sensible test curve for the species you are targeting 2.75lb+ is fine for carp just take it easy and dont try to wellie the fish in to the net im sure you will do well, mind you my biggest carp is only 8lb. (im a converted fluff chucker)

Thank god for that because i was useing bettwen16 or 18 Lb line i was cheating and making it to easy .I use that with 45Lb leadcore with a helle rig and if i'm not doing that it's the inline metod all the rest of the time not these little ones ether big korda self righting ones with a massive ball of groundbait round it both have never let me down yet you can't help the odd doddgie hook that snaps but for carping size 10 hooks is about as small as it gets i like my size 6 or 4 partridge f9s or big size 4 kamasans cant remember the model as i just gave the last one and the packet awat but its a karai green packet and just a number, but i am tempted to try out thouse exspensive armapoint hooks this year what would any one who,s used them say what they think i'de like to here some feedback befor spending a mint on them .Iainand my best last year was a 28Lb mirror i hope it's put that cupple of extra pounds as i would love to break the 30 Lb bar my luck i will get her after sporning and she'll have lost weight .Wish i could say the same about my woman.
