im upto the same thing last year i found my carp hanging around a water inlet
this time a year go walking the banks looking for signs b4 the boats move and make the water to dirty to see through.

its been said fishing close to mored boats is a good bet for canal carp
could look for spots that are bit diff from the rest ov the cut like wider parts turning points and reed beds ect .

me im still learning this canal carping but would say when it warms up pre baiting after the boats stop running in the evenings for a few days b4 fishing or maybe start putting bits in now keep it going in till spring you just might have a gr8 days fishing when u do go .

just keep going there watching the water

carpy i thinks

night fishing nope but will do this year i fished in the day with bk leads and still had me a huge boat lol.

the carp seem to be right up close to the banks mooching for foods
like the water inlet i watch will see the carp the for ages rooting in close if they leave there soon bk.

i have a picture of a nice golden common that was mooching in the side on the canal i will up load it from me fone and put here for you to see.

if your going to fish the canal i would go light as poss not with the kitchen sink in tow chances are there wont be the room for it any how plus if night fishing on your jack and need to leave in a rush for any reason then you have less to mess about with.

i use alot of tesco baits corn kidneys vitalin ect nice and cheep as the carp won't be the only fish taking your pre bait also bung in hand full of boilies
18mm up will beat most of the other fish as for carp even the small ones have big mouth's.

the good thing about baiting up at night the boat's are stoped or should be and no one see's it going in esp the swans they will nick the lot wasting your time n money.

(((if dnt mind me asking what canal you going to try))))

this is one of the spots on the canal this is not the inlet one

the inlet pic would give it all away should there be anyone who fishes living by it and be
on this site lol so won't be posting it but will put the picture of the common that was feeding right in the edge of it on here for you to look at .

HERE they are if you look closely your see 2 fish in one picture its the middle one

these are took at the inlet on the canal you can just make out the water intering the canal
im standing right over these fish they didnt care just got on with there rooting.

these fish look small in the pic but really they aint if you look at the tail on one its pritty big this fish looked 15+lb to me took on me mobile so not the best pictures.

hope these inspire you to give it a blast it takes alot ov visits to find them but when you do i recon it will be worth it plus no fighting for the best peg or being cast over .

click pic to make bigger

the fish i seen are on here did you look at them.

as for the canal your looking at there are some gr8 looking spots on there defo worth ago.

use this to site for checking out for changes in the canal that maybe good spots to fish.Live Local Search

there is a cracking looking spot ( lock lane and lower cape) thats between wedgnock lane and coventry rd section of the canal in warwick .

as for a mounting bike yep and some polaroid glasses these will help so much in fish finding as they cut through the glare on the water.

got to much going on at the mo for fishing although i do go dwn to chuck me pre bait in i recon its in my favour to do this y not able to fish.

the spot i seen on your canal looks like 4 sunken boats if you see this then youve found what was looking at .

if that was my canal id defo start my carping there lloks to good to miss 4 me

------------"""""""""""""-------------------------"""""""""""""""-----------------

------------''''''''''''''''''''''-------------------------'''''''''''''''''''''''''-----------------

set out like that but in boat shapes let me know if you find it be gr8 if u can get pics on .
