Hey are you a clone of me
I like Army 5 seasons gear for the same reasons

one thing I will add is on overnighters alcohol is your worse enemy It actually lowers core temperatures so on a really cold night could cause you big problems with hypothermia

I WILL explain

Alcohol causes the capillaries (the smallest blood vessels in your body) in your skin to open up making you feel warm. This warmth comes from the bodies core (Heart, stomach, brain)You don't actually get warmer it's just the heat is moved from your core to your skin. By warming your skin you cool everything else and it is quite rapid your core can loose a couple of degrees in minutes remember normal body temp is 37 degrees, you are hypothermic if your core goes below 35 degrees !

So if you have a couple of shots or pints and are not properly dressed for a cold night (cold is below 8 degrees) then you are instantly at risk of frostbite or even death

Sounds dramatic and you will know of folk who get ill after overnighters but they don't think cold caused it it will always be the dodgy kebab or curry they blame not the beer they've drunk -- trust me I've been in A&E as a nurse and do know the excuses and there are loads that sound plausible but in the end

COLD is the night anglers biggest enemy

When night fishing always ensure you are well equipped , you know your escape route you have emergency kit (lights / phone / thermal emergency blanket/ hot food) and someone knows EXACTLY where you are

I have gone on but you all need to know the problem is out there waiting
