it could be due to spawning or presentation of baits
bread & dog biscuit tied on a bait band seems to be a good idea
carp are fussty at the moment but they are gradually waking up to eating more frequent so i think its more of a time thing than what you are using
i caught a few carp at the weekend with red maggot only so i was really happy but weekend before all i could catch was breanm after bream
