ive jut finished making a 5kg batch of my fave boilies. The way i see it is all these big bait companys are out to make money but at the same time to put a quality product out but at a price!!. i personally make all my own baits from pellets to boilies for the simple reason is that its cheep and i know exactly what its made of.the difference with my baits is that they are made purely for the fish to be attracted plus be good for them (HNV-high nutritional value) and are made with only the ingrediants i need to use. i made a batch of hemp boilies and they will see me out fish 99% of people on the same water . I will make them in sizes from 4mm to about 20mm and these will catch me anything from small roach to big bream tench and carp. Infact ive just adjusted my ingredients slightly to adhere to the weather conditions and thats what its all about. makeing a bait that your happy with. i.e there is no point putting a huge highly tasty oily atracting FILLING bait out when the fish arnt too hungry. when they arnt that hungry il cut down on the mass flavor and give them a snack.
you can make boilies out of just about anything.
1st you need a base mix i.e fishmeal is an ideal base mix for the beginner.
2nd you need somthing to bind your mix and keeping it simple is egg LIGHTLY beaten or even stired.
3rd is flavour and colours being oils and colourings
4th which is optional but i think makes a boilie a bait is a ground feed i.e hemp, tigernut, pellets, even angel delight.
if you pm me il try and sort some recipe and method out for you.
