On some waters dead maggots are 10 times better than live ones, one reason is the one stated above, but also as they look different and are what the fish might usualy find on the lake bed as they fall from the trees.

(i found they fell from the trees one evenin while carping and having a snooze under me bivvy, there were numerouse splatting sounds on me bivvy, sounded like small rain drops, but went out side to see what it wa and al these lil tiny yellowy maggots werecralling all over it, throught the air vents of me easy dome and into the pockets, took me 2 weeks to clear them all out and even now im still finding the odd one!)
